Michael Derice

(Class of 2004)

Michael Derice graduated from Brooklyn Tech in 2004. He was a member of the Varsity team from 2001-2004. 3rd QB in school history to start opening day as a sophomore. He was a two-way player his Junior and Senior year.  Teammates referred to him as “Slash” because of all the positions he played throughout the course of his career on both sides of the ball. He started games at Quarterback, Receiver, Safety and Corner, while also seeing snaps at Tight End and Running back.

He was part of the 2003 Brooklyn Tech team that went to the quarterfinals 2 consecutive seasons and finished senior season at 10-2(including playoffs). The 2003 team also had victory vs Upstate New York Champions Vestal High School. As a senior he finished with over 400 yards receiving, 7 total Touchdowns (5 Rec TD, 2 Rushing) along with 3 Interceptions. He was a member of the Brooklyn 33- All Boro Team, NYC All City team and Member of the NYC VS LI Empire Challenge All Star game. Michael was a Recipient of Adam J. Cirillo Scholarship Fund along with Captain Brian Tracey and also awarded Dr. Joseph Devita Memorial Award. He was recruited to Stony Brook University. After his redshirt freshman season, he was a part 2005 North East Conference Championship team under former Brooklyn Tech Alum and Head Coach at Stony Brook- Sam Kornhauser.

He graduated from Stony Brook in 2008 with a degree in Health Science. After graduation he worked as the Special Assistant to the Athletic Director at Stony Brook (2008-2009) before being hired as the Director of Football Operations from 2009-2012. At that time, he was the youngest Director of Operations in Division 1(FBS/FCS). After 3 seasons at Stony Brook, Michael was hired by the Indianapolis Colts as a Scouting Assistant for a year before transitioning to an Area Scout with emphasis on the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region. In May of 2022 Michael was hired as National Scout for the New York Giants, concluding his 10-year run with the Colts.

He is Married to Soleil Derice and has two children. Brielle and Michael Jr.
