Arthur Hughes
(Class of 1975)
Born in the Bronx, Arthur was raised in Astoria, Queens. Arthur attended Brooklyn Technical High School from 1972-1975. He was on the football roster from sophomore till senior year. In his senior year he was 1st Team All City QB, Brooklyn 44 QB, and Prep All American. Arthur graduated from Tech in 1975 with a focus in Electrical Engineering. Upon leaving Tech he attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute also known as WPI. At WPI he played all four years as QB starting from sophomore through senior year. During play at WPI he earned several ECAC player of the week awards and in the 100th anniversary edition of WPI football was named a top 5 QB.
Arthur graduated from WPI in 1979 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and began his professional career with Dresser Atlas in Houston, Texas. He worked in petroleum business as an engineer from 1979-1986. At this point Arthur made a career shift and started a financial planning and wealth management firm in December 1986. He is still the owner and managing partner of Strategic Insights Financial Planning Group which has been recognized by the Wall Street Journal and Texas Monthly as a top 5% firm in the country. Arthur takes great pride in giving back to the communities in which he has resided serving as President of the McAllen Rotary Club, President of board of trustees of International Museum of Art and Science, Member of the South Texas Chapter of American Red Cross and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Arthur resides in San Antonio, Texas and the great prides of his life are his two daughters Megan, who is a Pulmonary Critical Care Doctor on the faculty of Texas Tech University and Ashley, who works as chief buyer for James Avery in Texas. He recently welcomed his first grandson, Franklin Lewis Collier.
